Medialab Barcelona, the company for the convergence of new media networks, will be contributing in the set up of a DVB-T2 trial during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) to be held in Barcelona from 25 to 28 of February 2013.The field trial will be done in the context of the CAT.T2 project where several companies are joining efforts to advance in the development of DVB-T2 and DVB-T2 lite neworks. During the MWC pilot, Medialab Barcelona will be providing the multi-gateway of the DVB-T2 signal that will be transmitted from the Collserola tower and two other sites to the exhibition center.
CAT.T2 project is a collaborative project funded by ACC10 and ERDF where the companies Abertis Telecom, Mier Comunicaciones, Promax Electrònica and Medialab Barcelona (coordinator) study and implement the possibilities of the second generation digital terrestrial television standard, DVB-T2, in its optimized version for mobile terminals (T2-Lite) and using new transmission bands (VHF). This standard allows better use of radio spectrum and better coexistence between fixed and mobile TV reception. CAT.T2 project partners develop all the elements of the value chain: header, transmission and distribution network to receiver and signal measurement. The project will be demonstrated in Hall 8.1 App planet of MWC’13.
